How 0845 numbers work
When your customers phone you on your 0845 number their calls are automatically (and instantly) redirected to whichever phone number you have given us.
You can change this 'destination' number as often as you want, for free.
So even if you move office or you simply want the calls redirected to another phone for a short period, your 0845 number stays the same.
And because all the clever stuff is done at our end, you can continue using the phones you receive your 0845 calls on exactly as before - both for incoming and outgoing calls on the original number.
No extra lines to rent or equipment to buy
Rest assured that when you buy a Planet Numbers 0845 number, because we simply divert your incoming 0845 calls to an existing number of your choice (which you can change as often as you want) there is absolutely no requirement for extra phone lines or any equipment whatsoever.
But aren't 0845 numbers classed as local calls?
Not any more! When they were originally introduced, 0845 numbers were a replacement for the old local rate 0345 services, and so the new 0845 numbers were also charged at the local call rate until 2004.
0845 numbers are now simply one of a whole range of so-called 'non-geographic numbers' (NGNs) - because they're not linked to a particular town or area like 01 or 02 for example.

Most call plans now include 0845 numbers in their inclusive monthly package deals so it doesn't cost your customers a single penny to call you. Where 0845 numbers aren't included in their monthly deals, they'll be charged for the call.
However, when they call a Planet Numbers 0845 they'll only pay 2p a minute during the day (6am to 6pm) and half a pence at all other times (if they're calling from a BT line).
